Accreditation Status

The University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is accredited by the CVMA/AVMA Council on Education (COE).

In October 2012, the Faculty was awarded full accreditation for seven years by the COE.  The next site visit is anticipated in 2019.

Graduation from an accredited college and successful completion of the North American Veterinary Licensing Exam (NAVLE) makes a graduate eligible to become a registered (licensed) veterinarian in Alberta and other North American jurisdictions.

UCVM’s current (2014) NAVLE first-time pass rate is 100%, with an overall first-time pass rate of more than 98%.  The COE accreditation standard requires a minimum 80% pass rate.
