John Gilleard

Dr Gilleard obtained his BVSc from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Liverpool in 1987. After three years in general veterinary practice in the UK, he undertook a PhD in Parasitology at the University of Glasgow. He then spent 5 years as a post-doctoral researcher in the Wellcome Centre for Molecular Parasitology, at the Department of Genetics in the University of Glasgow. In 1998 Dr Gilleard was awarded a Wellcome Trust Travel Fellowship during which he spent 2 years in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. He then returned to a faculty position at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow, in 2000 and was appointed Professor of Veterinary and Molecular Parasitology at Glasgow in 2007.
