About Calgary

Southern Alberta , with its livestock production, dairy activity and world-class cattle reproductive facilities, is an ideal environment for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The presence and impact of the Calgary Stampede, Spruce Meadows and the Calgary Zoo, along with the establishment of partnerships with other organizations and private practices, allows the faculty to contribute to animal health within the community while also providing students with valuable hands-on experience.

Calgary offers a number of veterinary referral clinics in the immediate vicinity, offering considerable expertise for students in the veterinary medicine program.

Calgary is a dynamic and vibrant city, with a population of one million people. The host city of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, Calgary has a proud sporting legacy with world-class facilities and over 550 km of urban pathways, to facilitate a healthy, active lifestyle.

With the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop to the city skyline, Calgary offers residents the best of both worlds – comfortable living in a cosmopolitan city with outdoor adventure and the pristine mountain wilderness less than an hour away.
