New strategic plan for Haskayne School of Business is future-focused

The Haskayne School of Business has unveiled an ambitious three-year strategic plan, positioned to lead in an era of unprecedented business transformation. Titled Choosing Change, the plan outlines a comprehensive roadmap for strengthening the school's role as Calgary's premier business school. 

At the heart of the strategy are five core priorities that will shape the school's evolution:

• Future-focused learning and engagement
• Knowledge creation
• Continuous improvement
• Healthy culture, and 
• Community synergy. 

These pillars reflect the school's commitment to delivering transformative educational experiences while fostering meaningful connections with Calgary's business community. 

Preparing tomorrow's leaders

"This strategic plan builds on our strengths and invests in students, programs, research, alumni and community," says Dean Gina Grandy. "We know that preparing tomorrow's leaders will take more than words on a page, and we are eager to bring this plan to life." 

The plan addresses several key areas crucial to the school's future success. Students remain at the forefront, with a renewed focus on developing the skills, competencies, and mindset needed to drive positive change in an evolving business landscape. The school is also making significant investments in research excellence, aiming to become one of Canada's top five research business schools. 

Trusted source of business thought leadership

Community engagement features prominently in the strategy, with plans to enhance the school's position as a trusted source of business thought leadership in Calgary. This includes expanding initiatives like the Haskayne Business Exchange and strengthening connections with alumni and industry leaders who serve as mentors, speakers, and panelists. 

The strategic plan was developed through extensive stakeholder consultation, including multiple surveys, focus groups, and planning sessions over several months. This collaborative approach ensures the plan reflects the diverse perspectives and needs of the school's community while preparing for the dramatic changes affecting business, government, economic, and social landscapes both nationally and globally.
