Two nursing grad students receive $30,000 SPOR studentship award from AIHS
Merilee Brockway and Lorraine Smith-Macdonald have each been awarded a Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Graduate Studentship for their research projects undertaken in the faculty.
Ten submissions were approved out of 41 in the October 2015 competition. They each receive a one-year award of $30,000.
Brockway is supervised by Karen Benzies and her project is Assessing the Impact of Family Integrated Care in Level II NICUs on Infant Feeding Outcomes: A Mixed Methods Study. Smith-MacDonald, who is supervised by Shane Sinclair, is working on Exploring the Relationship between Spirituality and Psychological Distress within Combat Veterans: A Grounded Theory Study.
Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) is about ensuring that the right patient receives the right intervention at the right time. The objective of SPOR is to foster evidence-informed health care by bringing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to the point of care, so as to ensure greater quality, accountability, and accessibility of care.
