Goal 2
Advance animal and human health through global research and education
The international nature of our faculty is a great advantage. Our faculty are interconnected and engaged in highly collaborative, interdisciplinary and international research and education. Engagement of our faculty members with their international colleagues will allow them to delve deep into important topics with a global perspective that impact animal, human and environmental health. This will improve their visibility internationally, increase the global impact of UCVM, and enable UCVM to contribute to resolving global issues and pursue novel funding opportunities.
Strategies:
- Advance existing faculty-driven research partnerships to inter-institutional collaborations in research, education and knowledge mobilization to address global issues through Memoranda of Understanding.
- Promote faculty exchanges between UCVM and partnering institutions.
- Develop UCVM regional hubs with our international partners in strategic locations to improve UCVM visibility and opportunities.
- Encourage faculty to develop novel partnerships with international institutions as a proactive response to emerging opportunities and empower them to advance their partnerships to inter-institutional level collaborations.
- Interweave research partnerships with opportunities for our DVM, graduate students and PDFs to enhance their educational experience, cross-cultural competence and global perspectives.
- Develop collaborative graduate training opportunities with international academic institutions.
