Introductions and Small Animal Day
Today is all about cats and dogs! First, let's take a tour of our General Campus and our Small Animal Ward. Next, we will review the anatomy of our feline and canine patients. Once we know where everything is, we will learn to listen to the lungs and heart with a stethoscope, we will hear about a day in the life as a small animal surgeon, and introduce many other important skills used by small animal veterinarians.
Today is all about horses! First we will take a tour of our Equine Ward. Then, we will get to know some differences in the anatomy and physiology of equine species. Then we will learn more about equine medicine, equine handling, suturing, and specialty knots. To top off the day, we will discover what a day in the life looks like as an equine veterinarian.
Today is all about cows, pigs, chickens and alpacas... oh my! First, we will take a tour of our Bovine Ward. Then we will review some important bovine anatomy and physiology. Next, we will watch bovine interactions, learn large animal surgical ties, learn about alpaca and pig health, and many other things including what a day in the life looks like as a production animal veterinarian.
Today is all about exotic animals! Throughout the day you’ll study exotics anatomy, learn how to prepare a blood smear, watch exotic and reptile interactions, discover what being an anatomic pathologist is like, learn about biosecurity, and more!
Today is all about zoo and wildlife medicine! Throughout the day you’ll take a tour of our Wildlife Research Station, study wildlife anatomy and physiology, learn how to bandage a wing, discover what a day in the life of a university veterinarian is like, and more!
