Hi everybody! Welcome to Vet Camp! We are so excited to spend the next week with you! My name is Shelby and I am a third-year vet student here at UCVM. I am originally from Sundre, Alberta and I went to university in Edmonton at the University of Alberta. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health and then spent a few years working before I applied to vet school. I am from a farm, so I really enjoy working with large animals (especially horses) but I am also very passionate about emergency medicine! I don’t have any pets that live with me right now, but I do have two horses that live on my parent’s farm- Ghost and Shorty- and I love riding in the mountains and camping. I’m very excited to meet you all and I can’t wait to tell you about all the cool things veterinary medicine has to offer!

Hello! Welcome to Vet Camp, we’re so excited to spend the next week with you all learning about vet med! My name is Meagan, and I’m in my third year at UCVM. I grew up in Calgary, but moved to Vancouver in 2018 to complete my undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University in Biology and Criminology. I never had any pets growing up, but I’ve always loved getting involved at my local animal shelter walking the dogs and helping out! I am hoping to be a small animal veterinarian when I finish school, and I’m super excited to meet you all and dive into the world of vet med!

Hi, I am excited to meet everyone at vet camp! I am a second-year veterinary student at UCVM. Before starting vet school, I earned a bachelor’s degree with a major in pharmacology at the University of British Columbia. After graduating, I worked with research animals in the pharmaceutical industry for 3 years. I’m currently interested in laboratory animal medicine and am passionate about maintaining and continually enhancing their high standards of care and welfare. I adopted a cat from the SPCA named Ghost. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and diving into everything the world of veterinary medicine has in store!

Hi all! My name is Anja and I am so excited to spend the week with you talking about veterinary medicine! I am a second-year student here at UCVM, but before I started vet school, I completed a bachelor's degree in Zoology, also from the University of Calgary. I grew up just south of Calgary, near a town called DeWinton, where I discovered my love of animals through horseback riding. I have a snuggly cat at home and a retired horse who does lots of tricks; he can even give a fist-bump! My interests are in equine medicine, especially with competition horses, and wildlife, as I worked two summers in a wildlife rehab center. I can’t wait to meet you all!
