Bandaging a Wing

Materials Needed
To practice wing bandaging you will need a roll of vetwrap from your swag bag. The colors of vetwrap you have in your swag bags will vary. Please see the image to the right for reference.
To practice this skill you can practice on a stuffed animal with a wing, a coat hanger, or a friend/family member with their elbow bent with their hand on their hip.
Enjoy practicing your wing bandaging skills!
Bandaging a Bird Wing
Birds can injure their wings, and as a veterinarian it is important to be able to stabilize and bandage the wing of a bird correctly so that the bird does not injure their wing further. It is important to place the bandage correctly so that you do not decrease the ability of the bird to breathe. See how to apply a bandage on a stuffed bird in the video below!
To practice this at home you can either used a stuffed animal with a wing, a clothes hanger, or have a friend or family member bend their elbow with their hand on their hip to create a wing that you can practice on!
