WIDE Events 2023-2024

Here's a collection of images to showcase UCVM's WIDE club, a club dedicated to appreciation of wellness, inclusion, diversity, and equity. WIDE hosted several events during the year, including walking in the Pride March (wearing tie-dyed white coats of course!) and the Book Sale.

Equine Club 2023-2024

Here's a collection of images to showcase UCVM's Equine Club. This club hosted a trail ride and polo games, among many other equine-related events this year.

Chicken Phantom Olympics 2023

The Chicken Phantom Olympics is an annual ultrasound-guided vascular accesschallenge hosted by SVECCS, Dr. Boysen, and Dr. Chalhoub. Vascular phantom models (i.e. simulators) are prepared by placing modeling balloons inside raw chicken wrapped in saran wrap. Student participants proceed in timed heats to gain access to the simulated vessel using a micro-convex ultrasound probe as a guide.

SVECCS CPR Competition 2024

The SVECCS CPR competition is an annual resuscitation challenge where groups of students are faced with a hypothetical case and a simulated patient. Students must use their knowledge from clinical skills labs and patient vitals to treat the patient and attempt to revive it. Two faculty members are responsible for acting as the patient's owners, and it is the responsibility of students within groups to manage these clients and their (often exaggerated) emotions through the use of their professional skills communication techniques. Paritipating teams are encouraged to come up with a unique team name and costume theme. This event is also an opportunity to network with our sponsors from the veterinary industry, many of which are also responsible for judging the competition.
