Welcome

Welcome to the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM), Canada's fifth accredited veterinary college. 

UCVM was established by the Province of Alberta in 2004.  The first faculty members were recruited in 2005 and the first graduate students started in 2006.  The first DVM class started in September 2008. 

Fully funded by the Province of Alberta, UCVM is committed to meeting the animal and public health needs of the province through its educational, research and outreach programs.  Please explore our website to find out more.

Canadian veterinarians receive national awards for their contributions to veterinary medicine 

UCVM congratulates all the veterinarians honoured by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association this year.  Including Calgary veterinarians Drs. Danny Joffe and Herman Barkema. Read more  

Dr. Elizabeth Cannon, President of the U of C takes time to meet with UCVM

 

Dr. Elizabeth Cannon, President of the University of Calgary stopped by the second floor of the Teaching, Research and Wellness Building on the Foothills Campus to visit with members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Cannon said she wants us all to think about where we want our University to be in five years. Read more
