Our Class of 2022 students have chosen a case from their rotations and pre-recorded a video presentation. Each case presentation will showcase a list of differential diagnoses or choices in treatment, and outline why decisions were made as the case was worked up or treated. During Assessment Week, each student video will be shown, followed by a Q&A session. Please view attachment for Zoom info as well as the detailed presentation schedule.

You are all welcome to join us on Zoom to view these presentations! The ABVMA has agreed to award 1 Continuing Education credit hour for every 4 presentations that faculty/DVLC members attend. Certificates will be emailed out during the week of January 17th, 2022.

Your involvement and feedback would be extremely helpful, so we hope you are able to join us for Assessment Week.

Thank you all for your patience while we work through hiccups with our asset management application.  A special thank you to the clinicians who reported their frustrations.  This feedback has been critical to how we plan to move forward.

We’ve been working closely with the support team at Asset Panda, and we will continue to work behind the scenes until we are comfortable rolling it out again.  For the time being, please continue to email Kim at ksiroishka@ucalgary.ca to reserve equipment.

One Health Circle Wednesday January 19, 7-8pm – One Health Within: Establishing healthy microbiomes in infants

Description: Humans and their microbial communities have been evolving together for billions of years. It is understood that our relationship with microbiota in biodiverse environments is vital to the evolution and progression of resilient immune systems. Scientists have observed that environmental changes over the past 50 years have altered our microbiomes and are studying the influence of the change on our health. Such altered microbiomes are passed down to the next generation, further compounding health outcomes. How does the microbiota of mothers shape the microbe and immune system of their infants? What does impact does this have on their health trajectory? Join Drs. Kathy McCoy and Laura Sycuro as they discuss the microbiome, and how the microbial makeup of infants is influenced by their mothers during and after birth.

Infection Biology Research Group Seminar Series, Thursday January 20th 10:30am -11:30am. Dr. Johnathan Canton, Assistant Professor (Immunology), CBEM will present “Dendritic cells in homeostasis and immunity: when antigen makes a break for it.” All are welcome.
