Althea Brolsma
Research Assistant
Althea joined the Simpson Centre in June 2025 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Calgary. She brings to the team her experience in public engagement and education, skills in data visualization, and enthusiasm for applied research that improves socio-economic sustainability.
Her research at The Simpson Centre focuses on agricultural controversies and knowledge mobilization, with the intent to improve the effectiveness of policy development and public understanding of agri-food systems. This includes analysis and production of a public knowledge resource regarding the impacts of irrigation expansion in southern Alberta. This area of study has sparked her interest in the influence of societal systems and infrastructure on our interactions with natural environments.
