Biography

Dr. Terri Schiller moved from Vancouver, where she had practiced small animal referral surgery for 20 years, to Calgary in 2011 to join the Western Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Centre.  Dr. Schiller joined UCVM in 2012 as a sessional instructor in small animal surgery.   In 2014 she became a Senior Clinical Instructor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences.  Since Nov 2015 she has also been the Associate Dean, Clinical Programs.  Dr. Schiller provides surgical services to the Western Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Centre.

 Dr. Schiller has particular expertise in canine total hip replacement and has been actively involved in both North American and Europe veterinary total hip training courses.   She also has strong interests in surgical oncology and interventional procedures such as tracheal stenting, urinary stenting and diversionary procedures.

 She teaches through all four years in the UCVM DVM undergraduate program and is actively involved in small animal intern training.  She received the CVM Teacher of the Year award in 2015. 

 In her role as Associate Dean, Dr. Schiller oversees clinical faculty member positions with practices within UCVM’s distributed veterinary learning community.  She also manages some of UCVM’s continuing education programs.
