How to Apply
Find out the steps you will need to take to apply to the VMS Program
Identify and directly contact a potential faculty supervisor to determine if they are accepting new students, to confirm that their research interests match yours, and to discuss funding options should you not secure your own funding. You can track your admission status through the online application account you created at the time of submission. Here you will be able to monitor which supporting documents have been received by our office and what stage of the process your application is in. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all required documents are received prior to the deadline.
Applications will only be reviewed when the online application is complete and all official supporting documents are received. Students are encouraged to complete their application prior to the deadline.
Final admission is dependent upon approval by a prospective supervisor and the availability of financial support.
If no member of the Veterinary Medical Sciences Graduate Program expresses an interest in supervision of the applicant, the application will be terminated.
Admission of applicant into the Veterinary Medical Sciences Graduate Program is also conditional upon the applicant receiving financial support. The Veterinary Medical Sciences Graduate Program has some entrance studentships for exceptional students. Alternatively, funding will be provided through external awards acquired by the student, or by the supervisor's operating grants. If funding support cannot be provided, the application will be terminated.
All graduate students and their proposed supervisors are encouraged to apply for external funding. A limited number of Graduate Research Assistantships are available on a competitive basis through several sources. Information on funding opportunities can be found here. Other project specific awards are also available; please contact your supervisor for more information about these awards.
