Beatrice (aka Beabuzz)

Beatrice (aka Beabuzz) came to us from a breeder in Saskatchewan.

We had lost our first lab, Abby, eight months prior and were really missing having a furry friend to enjoy and give love to. We found Bea on Petfinder and just kept going back and looking at her. She had the sweetest face, and we knew we wanted her.

We made our way to Saskatchewan and didn’t realize the brier was on and all the hotels were full, but we managed to find a nice B&B.

We didn’t sleep much, as we were excited to meet Bea. We had an unusual meeting place at a Walmart parking lot. The lady asked us, “Do you want her?” and we said yes! So we put a little pink collar on her and started our new journey home with Miss Bea.

She had a real little personality of her own. All the way home, she would jump on the console in the car and lick our ears!

Bea was very smart, had a lot of pent-up energy, and was like having a naughty teenager! She liked to get into all sorts of things and would counter-surf any chance she could. She managed to open plastic containers to access her food on a couple of occasions, and we had to buy a special food container called The Vault, which was true to its name and managed to keep her out of her food.

She loved her balls and her dummies, and she loved swimming and diving for her toys. Bea kept us on our toes, and she would sometimes not return with her toy, as a smell or something else would catch her attention and Beabuzz was gone to investigate—and we would be chasing and calling her! The results were not always great. Once, she managed to find a dead goose and ran out to the icy-cold Bow River to have a snack, knowing full well we would not chase her out there. Then came the many trips to the vet to get her checked out, always with a dog store visit afterward.

Bea loved to go on adventures and walk and play in new areas. She flew to Ontario twice to visit family and loved all the water and trees, with many squirrels! We managed to take her to the ocean in White Rock and to Summerland for vacation over the years.

The ocean was the best. We took her leash off and she just took off into the water, and she managed to run a long way down the beach as we struggled to keep up. This past summer, we took her to Blind Bay for three days and had a wonderful little holiday that included a small hike to take in the views and some nice, slow paddles in the lake. Bea also loved to go to Forget-Me-Not Pond in Kananaskis, followed by a stop at Ida May’s for ice cream.

Bea had a lovely last summer with us, which we are forever grateful for. But we miss her terribly. She was one of a kind, and we loved her very much. Beabuzz is forever in our hearts and memories.
