Zoe
Zoe was my soul dog and best friend.
I was only 12 years old when we brought her home, meaning that when she passed at nearly 13.5 years old, I had spent half my life with her. She was the sweetest, gentlest little girl and added so much to our family.
No matter what challenges the day held, you could count on her to snuggle up right in the crook of your neck when you inevitably laid down on the floor to greet her. She was a full member of our family, and she walked with us through so many different phases of life as a constant source of joy and comfort.
She loved exploring the back yard and rooting around in the garden. She took her job of defending the family home very seriously, often found sitting on the landing of the stairs attentively monitoring the outside world through the window. She loved to “sun tan” every morning in the front room.
She sadly struggled with some chronic health issues that led to some quirky traits, including only being able to tolerate fresh-cooked stewed beef (in later years requiring the help of a food processor) with pumpkin puree for every meal. She got to know her veterinary team well, especially in her last few years, but handled each and every appointment like the star she was.
Averaging a hearty 7lbs most days, she was living proof that small things can have a big impact. I truly believe that if love could heal, she would have lived forever, and we miss her every day.
We love you, little Zoe. ❤️
