Biography
Melanie joined the University of Calgary faculty in 2003, following doctoral studies in medical anthropology (at McGill University) and postdoctoral studies focused on health promotion in the context of social inequalities (at the Université de Montréal).
A grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) initiated Melanie's research program on population health and animal-human interfaces. Her research program has also been supported by an Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions Population Health Investigator Award (funded by the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Endowment), as well as by a New Investigator Award in Cultural and Societal Dimensions of Health from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
