VMS Internship Awards

Award value of $2500
The award will be presented by the Associate Dean Graduate Education and will recognize a graduateregistered full-time in a graduate program in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) who are under the supervision of a UCVM faculty member. The sucessfull nominee has significantly advanced the mission of UCVM through excellence in research, communication of science and/or leadership. .
The nomination period for the 2026 award has closed.
The nomination should include:
- A letter of recommendation from the primary supervisor or equivalent identifying specific contributions of the nominee. The letter may be co-signed by supervisory committee members;
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae.
Note: Self-nominations are allowed when accompanied by a reference letter from a supervisor or equivalent.
The award will be presented by the Veterinary Medical Sciences Graduate Student Association and will recognize a UCVM faculty member who has actively promoted excellence in graduate education and research through excellence in supervision. The nominated individual must be a UCVM faculty member who has supervised graduate students at the University of Calgary for a minimum of two years.
The nomination period for the 2026 award has closed.
The nomination should include:
- A letter of recommendation from a current graduate student identifying specific contributions that demonstrate excellence in teaching, supervision and mentorship of graduate students. The letter may be co-signed by other graduate students;
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae, including a list of all students supervised (past and present).
Award value of $2,000
The award recognizes a graduate student (full time) registered in a Veterinary Medical Sciences graduate program who has a focus and demonstrated academic or scholastic distinction in parasitology. The student must have completed at least one course of any level in the UCVM.
The nomination period for the 2026 award has closed.
The nomination should include:
- A brief letter of recommendation from your current supervisor or equivalent.
- A 300-word explanation of your interest and experience in parasitology (anything beyond 300 words will be truncated).
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae
Note: Self-nominations are allowed when accompanied by a reference letter from a supervisor or equivalent.
Award value of $5,000
This award honours the donor’s commitment to graduate education in Veterinary Medicine with a focus on advancing production animal health in Canada.
The award recognizes a graduate student (full time) registered in a Veterinary Medical Sciences graduate program who's research has a focus related to animal food production
The nomination period for the 2026 award has closed.
The application should include:
- A brief letter of recommendation from your current supervisor or equivalent.
- A 300-word statement of eligibility describing how the applicant's research relates to production animal health in Canada (anything beyond 300 words will be truncated).
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae.
