Lukarus

We are so thankful to be able to share with your amazing faculty about Lukarus.

Ten years ago, my twin sister and I decided to take up horse riding at the ripe old age of 40. (Mid-life crisis I guess đŸ˜Š). We simply found the first barn we looked up and met the most wonderful trainer. She introduced us to Lukarus. He was a Warmblood Holstiener born in Germany in 2009. It was love at first sight! Soft eyes, very confidant and 17.3 hands high, a big fella indeed, but very gentle and patient.

He was so forgiving for our lack of riding skills; he did all the work and made us look like superstars in the riding ring. He absolutely loved to jump, and the higher the better! He would always do a little side kick after a challenging jump in excitement. Lukarus was in his element with jumping, he was such a great athlete. He loved learning new exercises and routines and mastered them effortlessly; such a smart guy, unlike his rider!

His sweet demeaner was addictive. Everyone who met Lukarus just gushed over him , (he loved attention), and was the barn favorite to both his human friends and horsey buddies.

Our trainer always said: “I wish I could clone Lukarus”.

He was simply one of a kind. We will always be grateful for him. He is the reason why I still will get my old self on a horse and chase my passion until I’m 90.
